Method

Cooking Instructions for Milleglie Cake
    Prepare the Puff Pastry
    1. Place puff pastry sheets on lined baking trays. Prick them with a fork to prevent excessive rising during baking.
    Bake the Pastry Layers
    1. Bake the pastry at 200 degrees Celsius until golden and crisp. Allow the layers to cool completely before assembling.
    Heat the Milk
    1. Pour milk into a saucepan and warm it gently. Do not let the milk boil during this stage.
    Mix Eggs and Sugar
    1. Whisk egg yolks, sugar, and cornstarch together. Continue mixing until the texture becomes smooth and pale.
    Make the Pastry Cream
    1. Slowly add warm milk into the egg mixture. Return everything to the pan and cook until thick and creamy.
    Add Vanilla Flavor
    1. Remove the cream from heat. Stir in vanilla extract and allow the mixture to cool completely before using.
    Whip the Heavy Cream
    1. Beat heavy cream and powdered sugar together. Continue until soft peaks form and the cream becomes fluffy.
    Combine the Creams
    1. Fold the whipped cream into the cooled pastry cream. Mix gently to keep the filling light and airy.
    Assemble the Cake
    1. Place one pastry layer on a serving plate. Spread cream filling evenly and add sliced strawberries on top.
    Finish and Decorate
    1. Add the second pastry layer carefully. Dust with powdered sugar and chill before serving for cleaner slices.
