Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup warm water
  • teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Extra flour for dusting
  • Water for brushing

Method

Cooking Instructions
    Activate the Yeast
    1. Pour warm water into a large bowl. Add sugar and yeast. Stir gently and let it sit for five minutes. The mixture should become foamy and active.
    Mix the Dough
    1. Add flour, salt, and olive oil to the yeast mixture. Stir until a rough dough forms. Continue mixing until all ingredients come together evenly.
    Knead the Dough
    1. Place the dough on a lightly floured surface. Knead for about eight minutes. The dough should become smooth, soft, and slightly elastic to touch.
    First Rise
    1. Transfer the dough to a greased bowl. Cover with a clean towel. Let it rise in a warm place for about one hour.
    Shape the Bread
    1. Punch down the risen dough gently. Shape it into a long loaf. Place it on a parchment-lined baking sheet with enough space around it.
    Second Rise
    1. Cover the shaped loaf with a towel. Let it rise again for twenty minutes. This step helps create a lighter and fluffier texture.
    Prepare for Baking
    1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Brush the loaf lightly with water. Make a few shallow cuts across the top using a sharp knife.
    Bake the Bread
    1. Place the loaf in the hot oven. Bake for about twenty-five minutes until golden brown. The crust should look crisp and beautifully colored.
    Cool Before Serving
    1. Remove the bread from the oven carefully. Place it on a cooling rack. Allow it to cool slightly before slicing and serving.

    Notes

    • Use fresh yeast for the best rise.
    • Warm water should not be too hot.
    • Measure flour correctly for better texture.
    • Allow enough rising time.
    • Do not skip the second rise.
    • Use steam for a crispier crust.
    • Cool the bread before slicing.
    • Store properly to keep freshness longer.
